Fashion weeks are around the corner :D What I'm hoping to see...

One of my favorite seasons of the year, ready to wear Fall - Winter is around the corner. Berlin and Copenhagen already happened, but major Fashion Weeks (New York, London, Milan and Paris) are pretty close to start. Can't wait to see the display of creativity that will be shown.

Talking about New York I already have a few favorites that I always expect for anxiously:

Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, spanish brand Delpozo - which has driven me crazy lately, Zero + María Cornejo, The Row and Victoria Beckham to name a few.

The fact of being from the third world makes me idealize too much I guess hahaha, and shows like Rodarte, Proenza Schouler and Victoria Beckham create a lot of high expectations on me.

Now, London is an authentic display of creativity, it never stops impressing me. Can't wait to see my favorite Giles Deacon, who always manages to give me chills season after season, His game of non typical blend of fabrics and that rock vibe trap me. 

This SS2015 collection was quite special, the zombiesque look on girls took me to heaven and brought me back!

Simone Rocha, J.W. Anderson, KTZ, Sibling London,  Barbara Casasola and Christopher Kane are some of my favorite from LFW too. Love the fact that these designer do not really care about following trends or going with the flow. They just show what their guts tell you to create, and I absolutely love that.

Milan is my least major fashion week to be honest, but strangely two of my most expected shows from the whole season are shown during this week. 

Prada and Marni always blow my mind. Can't wait what they're showing this season.

I'm also quite curious to see what newcomer Stella Jean will show, as well as the fully renewed Silvia Venturini Fendi and Karl Lagerfeld's aestetique for Fendi. I must acknowledge his effort for make the brand "younger", and it has definitely paid off. I can clearly see the results of this change.

Now PARIS... SIIIIIIIGH... That's an exciting week. I literally arrange my daily work schedule in order to have as much free time as possible, to see every single show. Talking about Paris Fashion Week deserves an individual post, and that's what I will do :)

Not everything in life is fashion... there's also WINE :D

As you know I live in Honduras, a small third world country, and wine is kind of a luxury in here. Well, not a luxury itself, but it's not easy to find high quality bottles of wine. Anyway, us, wine lovers, manage to survive to such lack, and take the best out of everything that is available.

I'm not a big fan of blended wines, but I have found this Argentinian red wine called Astica, which is a mix of Merlot and Malbec. Quite good let me tell you... I've had just this kind since last year, and I've been pleasantly impressed with it. It has a very mild bouquet, perfect for matching it with sweet fruits and jellies, as well as soft flavor cheeses.  Its cost is quite good too, around USD 7.00, which, for you, Americans or Europeans might sound a bit expensive for a supermarket wine, but considering other bottles' prices in my country, this one is quite affordable.

There's another kind of wine that is pretty good as well, and very affordable, it's called BareFoot, from California. I have tried about three different years of their Merlot, and 2011 was my favorite. You felt the cherry wood in it, and it's definitely fantastic to be paired with smoked food (cheese, maybe a smoked steak would be great), and some dried fruits as well. This one is found at about USD 11.00 in local supermarkets, and I got so freaking excited to find it in a Chicago supermaket for only USD 5.00. Please don't take me to tell you about the rest of the evening. I simply don't remember LOL.

While in Paris, a couple of years ago, I went straight to the supermarket to have a "religious wine experience" hahahaha. I just had like 20 Euro in my pocket to be spent on wine and food. Got some great spiced Gouda (the girl from the grocery store told me it was an awful chesse, a low quality one), but I felt it delicious hahahahaha, my poor palate wasn't that well developed I guess. 
I also found this bordeaux, which I had no idea what it was about,  It turned out to be one of the best red wines I have drunk in my life. It's called Chateau Bellevue Claribes Bordeaux Sainte Foy, 2011, and it costed about USD 10.00. I just would have loved to pair it with a hard aged cheese, like a Pecorino, Agiano, but what I found was a mild aged Gouda, which was ok after all.

Visiting my best girlfriend / sister some years ago, the first thing I saw when I got off the plane was her holding alcohol hahahahahahaha. Some great sake and a bottle of Pata Negra Rioja Reserva, such a delicious wine... my mouth melts remembering it. We paired it with lambchops, Delicious yet affordable wine. No complaints at all.

And just for the record, when I become billionaire, I will celebrate having some of these amazing Le Pin by Pomerol wines with my loved ones... that might happen in my dreams maybe hahahaha, but hey! every success in life starts with a dream, doesn't it?

My favorite campaigns. SS2015

One important part of fashion is definitely the advertising work. Picking the right photographer, the right stylist, the right model and /or muse are key factors for the success of a campaign.

I personally love risky and edgy campaigns, and took a chance to collect the ones I've enjoyed the most for different reasons mentioned above. Talent and creativity is everywhere, and you'll see a sample of it. Enjoy.

Tomas Maier recruited the amazing Dutch model Saskia de Brauw and Korean
model Sun Jin Park for Bottega Veneta's SS2015 campaign. Nobuyoshi Araki,
one of the most famous Japanese graphic artists was in charge of this campaign.

 

Chanel's fragrance "Chance" had this cool and funny shoot with long time collaborator
Jean Paul Goude , as well as newcomers Anne-Sophie Monrad, Lieke van Houten
and a favorite of mine: Xiao Wen Ju

ONE OF MY FAVORITE: Céline's Phoebe Philo worked once again with Juergen Teller, to bring us
one of the smartest campaigns of SS2015. Writer and journalist Joan Didion represented the "timeless" elegance
Céline projects, as well as the youth and versatility reflected with newcomer Freya Lawrence.
Céline drives me crazy when it gets intellectual and refined, just adore it.

Coach  is changing its profile, thanks to newly appointed creative director Stuart Vevers
not only brought one of the best collections of NYFW's SS2015,
but one of the best advertising campaigns, photographed by the amazing Steven Meisel.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE: Extreme happiness at Diesel? Yep, showing a coupled Charlotte Free and a favorite of mine,
Winnie Harlow shining the way she deserves to shine, regardless her vitiligo condition, which makes her
more beautiful and special.  Just loved how Nicola Formichetti is giving Diesel a new approach, a very inclusive and open one.Photographed by Nick Knight.

One of my favorite: There's something about Karen Walker's eyewear campaigns
that ALWAYS steals my heart. This time the "star" of the SS2015 campaign is Toast, a
cute toothless dog, which happens to be an Instagram sensation. It looks like there's a new trend, taking models
from this social network. Lensed by Tom Schirmacher, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
displays attitude and such a natural gift to be photographed!

Hedi Slimane always manages to impress me with everything he does.
I know, nothing new, nothing we have seen before, but one thing is for sure,
his ability to create expectancy among the media and the fashion insiders.
This time he recruited newcomer Marjan Jonkman to star his SS2015 campaign
for the glorious Saint Laurent. He took models like Natalie Westling and Grace Hartzel
to the spotlight. I'm sure the same thing will happen with this Dutch beauty.

Marc Jacobs recruited a group of selected models to star his SS2015 campaign.
The one I felt more moved by was Mexican sensation Issa Lish. I love the pieces, I really do,
I just think the wigs were pointless and distracting. Other than that, everything was impeccable.

One of my favorite: Sorry, I just can't be neutral with Miu Miu. Miuccia Prada can put a piece of S&%$ in her campaigns
and I will always praise her. I know, not professional at all hahahahaha.

Jeremy Scott is making GREEEAT decisions lately!!!
Not a big fan of his work, but he's managed to shut my mouth up with the stuff
I've seen coming from him lately.
Isabeli Fontana is the muse of Moschino's latest campaign for TOY,
the house's new fragrance. Great job Mr. Scott. 

Like mother, like daughter. I loved Lanvin's entire campaign, shot by Tim Walker.
Alber Elbaz took three amazing mother-daughter teams to make
an impressive yet sweet campaign.for his SS2015 collection.
I particularly loved this shot, starred by
70's model Pat Cleveland, and her daughter Anna,
which happens to be an amaaaaazing couture model.
Have you guys seen her in Jean Paul Gaultier shows?
Such theatrical and dramatic. Love her.

Hedi Slimane doesn't stop impressing me.
He's had Giorgio Moroder, Ariel Pink, Marilyn Manson,
Kim Gordon, Marianne Faithfull, Daft Punk, Juliette Greco among others... I MEAN... the best of the best.
And now... JONI MITCHELL, yes, JONI F%/&$ing MITCHELL!!! Enough said.

My favorite menswear campaign for SS2015. Shot by Willie Vanderperre and starred by
model Luca Lemaire, Raf Simons played safe and highlighted just the clothes,
which are the focal point after all. Great campaign.
