Not everthing in life is fashion... there's also HONDURAS AND ITS WONDERS

Just can't believe the amount of people who's reading this blog everyday, from all over the world, thank you. I must take advantage of this, and tell the world about the wonders this small, poor and modest but amazing country offers. Honduras rocks!

Honduras is a beautiful unspoiled place with friendly, generous and cheerful people and the territory as such offers beautiful natural, colonial and unique locations for everyone, with different weather profiles, from the hottest beaches to the mildest mountains. Here are some important facts and recommendations of places to see for those wishing to live the beautiful experience to know this amazing country.

The country offers different scenery for everyone. We have the second largest coral reef in the world, making the territory of the Bay Islands ideal for water sports such as scuba diving among others. It is so easy to find further along the Atlantic coast a lot of beautiful beaches, from the most luxurious and commercial to the least explored and almost virgin. Honduras has coasts in both Atlantic and Pacific oceans, which makes the access to both extremes very easy, since the distance is shorter than a 7 hour ride by car or bus.

Honduras has different living culture scenaries, such as Ruta Lenca that covers the departments of Lempira, Copán, La Paz and Intibucá, which is home to one of the most representative ancient cultures of the country: The Lencas. Pottery and leather work is a signature element of lenca culture.

Honduras also counts with an ancestral ethnic group that represents our black population, called Garifunas;  they have represented Honduras in the world, through its exquisite cuisine, customs and traditions and their signature rhythm called "Punta", which is an important part of the Honduran identity.

It's a whole new experience visiting their villages, which they call "morenales", to have a real experience among this friendly and outgoing ethnic group.

Many colonial cities were founded at the time of the Spanish conquest. Colonial buildings are scattered throughout the country, with many architectural and religious wealth (predominantly Catholic), such as Yuscarán, Tegucigalpa (the country's capital), Comayagua and Gracias among others. The construction of houses with large corridors and colonial columns, cobbled streets and beautiful churches and cathedrals give these villas a unique charm, which is hard to find anywhere else in the world.

It is important to highlight that Honduras has the second largest rainforest in America, called Rio Platano Biosphere, located among the departments of Colón, Gracias a Dios, Olancho and El Paraíso; such a beautiful place riddled with unique and unparalleled wildlife. Quite a unique experience.

Those Japanese masters who brought MAGIC to Paris... AW 2015-2016

Junya Watanabe Finale - AW 2015-2016
Photo: LOVE Magazine, given to me byMarla, my best friend :)

I have a morbid fascination with certain designers and fashion houses, that will never allow me to be objective in my judgments toward them. Hedi Slimane's work in Saint Laurent, anything that John Galliano and/ or Maison Margiela does, everything from Céline's Phoebe Philo or everything that Alexander McQueen designed when he was around us is sacred to me. And there are those JAPANESE TITANS...

They are a particular group of designers who are one step ahead of everyone, those who I don't dare to include in "best collections" lists, because their magic goes far beyond. They never follow trends, and always provide innovative and unique elements to Paris Fashion Weeks.

I'll start talking about everything that comes from the Comme des Garçons school. Ms. Rei Kawakubo is a genious. She has built a cult around her legendary brand, three alternate lines have been detached from the main one, two of them presented during Paris Fashion Week. It is a force in fashion that has strengthened more and more since the 80's, and there's no way she follows conventional patterns, and still has a great success in the world.

3 collections related to Comme des Garçons were presented during Paris Fashion Week. The mythical collection presented by Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons. An ode celebrating life and death. Many knots and padded pieces that were softened with lace and other delicate fabrics, covered faces and that signature magic that only Ms. Kawakubo can create. Only 18 outfits were presented, but it was the perfect dose of wonder we needed to go to heaven and and get back several times without consuming any narcotic :) Wonderful!

An alternate collection, called "Comme des Garcons Comme des Garçons" was presented a few days later, a line that showed an "unusual mix" of school clothes for amish girls and work clothes for men. The pieces looked quite organic, but it is also observed that the materials with which they were made were mostly synthetic, and the perverse and innocent look of the entire collection captivated me. The entire collection seems pretty simple and without much design going on, but there's a lot of mind involved for sure, especially in the lace pieces and coats, which were exquisite.

And now JUNYA... SIGH!!! Junya Watanabe is Ms. Rei Kawakubo's darling pupil, and under the Comme des Garçons' sponsorship he produces his independent collection, that always amazes everyone, including me. It is not easy to interpret the vision or source of inspiration of Mr. Watanabe, what I know is that I saw many hexagons everywhere, a lot of volume, a lot of geometry and a strong dose of pleating, which is a Junya Watanabe's trademark. This particular collection raised his search for complex textures to a higher and new level, and their pairing he generates putting complex pieces with white plain shirts is exceptional. As always Junya outdid himself, and led me to a very pleasant visual orgasm. I don't want to fall into the cliché, but this was the best collection presented in Paris for me. Fantastic!

We also have these designers have been able to establish a balance between the conceptualism their crazy minds produce and the ease of making pieces for everyday use. Jun Takahashi of Undercover, Chotise Abe of Sacai and Tsumori Chisato are a perfect example of that.

Jun Takahashi has many followers in the fashion world because of the collections he produces for his brand Undercover, so conceptual and off the common denominator. I was pleasantly impressed once again, because he presented a collection that was apparently very "ready to wear", but with a strong concept, and a topic he put on the table, in a very smart and subtle way.

In terms of design and tailoring it had a bit of everything: knits, many oversized pieces, beautiful jackets with appliqués, very well done ... In a more conceptual level it had more. A reflection between wanting to be young and wanting to be old. Models with plastic surgery masks, and all the pieces had this air of "hospital clothing" that put the thoughtful touch to the collection. The guy is a genius. A master of tailoring, and so versatile ... he can go from the most complex and elaborate to the most minimal and conceptual in minutes! Great!

Chitose Abe has seen before her eyes the tremendous growth of her brand Sacai. This time she left some of Sacai's usual conceptualism aside, trying to turn those androgynous and beautifully amorphous forms she has managed in her previous collections, into molding them to the female figure in order to make it more flattering and feminine in a successful way. Many outerwear, with heavy fabrics like wool and fur, softening them with cute macramé dresses perfect for the woman's silhouette. Beautiful collection.

Tsumori Chisato has an extensive experience in enhancing the feminine silhouette, using Japanese elements of different types. On this occasion she made use of "anime prints" that were painted by hand, and which are a trademark of her brand. A  very well made collection, beautiful knitwear particularly, pretty elegant and fun at the same time, no an easy task to accomplish.

And the classic ones ... those beyond any judgment or criticism. Japanese fashion houses who have been in the market for many years, and that already have a prestige that no one would ever be able to overshadow. Beautiful collections of Yohji Yamamoto, Issey Miyake and Anrealage :)

Memorable new faces modeling in Fashion Weeks - AW 2015-2016

Rodarte stage - AW 2015-2016
Photo: Rodarte

It was a month of fabulous fashion. It is always a pleasure to see the current queens of industry (Hanne Gaby Odiele, Hedvig Palm, Saskia de Brauw, Jamie Bochert, Cara Delevingne, Anna Cleveland, Edie Campbell, Marie Piovesan, Daiane Conterato, Helena Severin, Sophia Ahrens, Binx Walton, Riley Montana, Alexandra Elizabeth, Issa Lish, Nastya Sten, Marte Mei van Heester, Xiao Wen Ju and Mica Arganaraz that was everywhere in fact, among others) walking the runway as fierce as usual.

It was fantastic to see those goddesses who were successful in the past and who are returning to the catwalks (Lily Donaldson, Grace Bol, Freja Beha Erichsen, Anja Rubik, Sasha Pivovarova, Eva Herzigova, Liya Kebede, Naomi Campbell, Erin O'Connor, Alek Wek among others), but this time we will honor the new faces. Some of them had their first fashion month, others began a couple of seasons ago, some of them were at every single show possible and others at only one or two, but all of them brought a quite particular beauty and diverse background and silhouette to the runway. This is the best of "the new faces of fashion" I saw this season AW 2015-2016.

a. Aamito Lagum: From Uganda, Africa's Next Top Model winner, with such a beautiful story. She was everywhere, from Richard Chai to even opening Balenciaga. She took my breath away several times this season. She'll be around for a while. Gorgeous!

b. Molly Bair: This American former tennis player proved that beauty comes in different ways. A non-conventional physique made her special for The Society Management, and the rest is history. She debuted with Proenza Schouler, then it was Prada, Dior, and she even closed Chanel's Haute Couture show, wearing the bridal gown. Such an honor. Amazing chidish face, long lean body and her signature ears. Amazing!

c. Aneta Pajak: I'll be honest. I hadn't paid attention to Aneta. Very beautiful Polish woman, I remember seeing her at the Gucci lookbooks, cute girl, but that was it. Seeing Maison Margiela AW 2015-2016's presentation I see this humpback model walking kind of scared / cold while the rest of the girls walked normally. That was shocking!!! I start my research because she definitely stole the show, and I finally find out it was the same girl from the Gucci campaigns. She has been everywhere since SS 2014, from Christopher Kane to Altuzarra. She has a long and promising career ahead, sure of that!

d. Varya Shutova: I saw her in Gucci this season and I drool. Literally. Beautiful Russian girl. Then I saw her walking for Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta. Such a treat. Her debut was on Marc Jacobs' show, who apparently has a very good eye for choosing his muses, because this year his show brought many interesting models to follow. I hope to see more of this beautiful girl in the seasons to come. She definitely has something special.

e. Fernanda Hin Lin Ly: I just saw this Australian beauty in one show, but what a show!!! Third in line on the Louis Vuitton show. Asian heritage with pink hair, fierce walk was enough to steal the spotlight, even having Freja opening and Liya closing. What a feat!

f. Amilna Estevao: From Angola, this African beauty was everywhere this season. Such particular features and a killer walk made her, Aaamito and Grace the African queenn of Fashion Month. I particularly loved seeing her in Milan shows, Prada for instance.

g. Sarah Abney: On her first season, this American model stole my heart. That neck... amazing walk, those features are unique and quite appealing. Saw her on just a few shows, but some of the most important ones of the whole season. She was at Giles, KTZ and closed Marc Jacobs! Can't wait to see more of her.

h. Bhumika Arora: I've seen this Indian beauty for two seasons already, and let me tell you... she's doing fantastic. She brings a pretty nice diversity feel to the runway. She's been from DAKS to Stella McCartney's shows. I never thought that posting selfies would do magic, but it did for her. She was discovered that way. Lovely lady!

i. Madison Stubbington: She's walked everywhere, and she's been around for a couple of seasons already. This amazing Australian model has walked for the most important houses in the industry, she's also been chosen by Saint Laurent's Hedi Slimane for one of the house's campaigns. She's been from Simone Rocha to Saint Laurent. Such a delight to see her walking!

j. Lineisy Montero: This lady is something else!!! I mean, gooooorgeus skin tone, brought natural hair back, she was on the major shows this season (Louis Vuitton, Prada, Miu Miu, Givenchy, Céline), I mean, this Dominican bomb is going to be around for a long time. Flawless!
