NYFW AW 2015 - 2016 is here!!! Days 4 & 5

As time goes by the shows get more and more interesting, and Days 4 and 5 have a variety of silhouettes and innovative elements added to this wonderful NYFW.
Alexander Wang was the ultimate highlight of the two days, and I already wrote a post about his wonderful runway show, but many others deserve to be reviewed.

Let's start with Christian Siriano, who showed femininity and versatility in his pieces. Lots of animal print, turtle necks and coats and an exquisite work in lamé and cashmere. Loooooots of color (those ball gowns in the end were great), which is not traditional in AW shows, but he managed to please his clientele and critics with his well tailored pieces. Great job!

Now Altuzarra... I don't know. It was beautiful, with a royal feel, luxurious, opulent, well tailored, and every piece will be a best-seller and praised by everyone, my only issue is that most of this work has been seen before, I see Frida Gianinni's Gucci work and some elements of Tom Ford's YSL Rive Gauche reflected on the collection. I might be wrong, remember I'm a simple 3rd. world fashion geek, not a professional critic, but that's what I see unfortunately. I congratulate him though, because he presented his first handbag collection (courtesy of Kering:). Wishing him the best on this new venture.

Dion Lee and Lacoste showed flattering yet fancy pieces with high design elements. Dion Lee went for monochromatics with highly engineered shapes, while Felipe Oliveira Baptista went for some more color, tennis inspired. Both collections brought beautiful simple silhouettes, with a good use of texture and mixing of fabrics.

What about Victoria Beckham?... MY Victoria Beckham didn't dissapoint at all, she's a master of simplicity and elegance. Those semi-draped pieces, large buttons, superb fabrics and that fantastic use of solids and color blockings were amazing. She delivered a fantastic collection.

Maxwell Osborne and Dao-Yi Chow showed a street collection for Public School, lots of layering and a few flattering runway looks for women. There were practical pieces proper for winter, and I bet the pieces themselves would look fantastic seen and analyzed one by one, and styled differently.

Now what Derek Lam showed was quite good. Streetwear, nothing complicated, but with an exquisite level of detail applied in every piece. Layering was appropriate but not heavy, you could notice how comfortable the outfits were as you saw the models walking on the runway. A cute collection.

If there's something I appreciate from Hood by Air's shows is the odd mix of androginy and Hip Hop. Now that's innovative!!! This AW 2015-2016 collection Shayne Oliver showed a fantastic use of volume, their interpretation of thug masks was executed flawlessly, it gave a sinister vibe to the models, and the cut in pants and male skirts was flawless.

DKNY lowered the volume a bit compared to its previous collection. Donna Karan played with volume, graphics and asymmetry to a master level; there's a dress that caught my attention particularly, the one worn by Emma Waldo. Beautiful piece.

Thakoon turned the volume on instead. Lots of color, layering, cubism, it was an intense collection. Enjoyed it a lot.

Diane von Furstenberg and Prabal Gurung showed both sexy yet classy pieces. They play safe somehow, and I'm sure these two collections will be best sellers.
